Terrariums
Earth. Defined.
What is a Terrarium?
The word Terrarium is derived from the Latin words terr(a), meaning Earth or land, and arium which describes an enclosure or receptacle. By definition, a terrarium is a living container of plants and earth; if done properly it can become its own stable ecosystem that requires little to no care. Incorporating the correct micro-fauna, such as Springtails and Wood Lice, help with recycling decaying plant matter. Once an ecosystem reaches optimal equilibrium, the container can be permanently sealed: the micro-fauna eat mold and decaying plant matter to clean the environment and fertilize the plants which in turn will produce oxygen necessary to sustain the micro-fauna.
Terrariums are not only a piece of the Earth contained, they are also captured moments that tell a story, hold a secret, whisper an emotion. Aesthetic centerpieces: they are magical windows to whimsical and enchanting landscapes you can watch and get lost in…
